I'm Heather Wyatte. Being a therapist for people navigating addiction or ADHD means holding space for complexity, resilience, and real struggle. It’s about showing up without judgment and recognizing that healing doesn’t follow a straight line. Whether it’s the chaos of ADHD or the weight of addiction, there’s always a reason behind the behavior—and always a person behind the pain. Managing relationships and effectively communicating with partners or family members can feel even harder during those times. You're not alone in it—we figure it out together. As a family therapist, I know that it can be easier to talk about the hard things when there is a mediator present and you are given the tools to help. That is what Whole Family Therapy specializes in.
whole family therapy
Whole Family Therapy treats many areas of concern, but our main specialities are as follows.
substance abuse
Stress happens when the situations in our life exceed our ability to cope with them. When stress becomes too much, people can turn to unhealthy habits such as: reacting in anger, isolating, or using alcohol and other substances. While those strategies may have worked initially, they can become destructive to the person and their relationships. I understand why people turn to those habits and can help them to develop healthier ways to cope, effectively adjust communication, prioritize important relationships, and learn how to handle future stressors.
Whole Family Therapy works with individuals struggling with addiction as well as their families to heal from the trauma of addiction, reconnect, and learn healthier ways to support each other.
ADHD
ADHD affects many aspects of life for the individual who has the diagnosis as well as their family members. I offer psychological counseling education about ADHD for the individual as well as the family. I also teach skills to improve time management, reduce impulsive behavior, improve organization, increase ability to focus, and decrease emotional reactivity.

types of therapy
Whole Family Therapy practices a large variety of therapeutic tools. I customize my approach for the needs of each individual/couple/family. Although I incorporate many types of therapy, the main types I focus on are as follows: Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavior (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Play Therapy, and EMDR.
